What a rainy four days we have had! I was traveling and actually survived a hurricane and tornado this weekend. I could not believe it. I have never seen rain and wind like that before. The rain was relentless and the winds picked up furniture and trash cans and moved them almost 100 yards. As I sat in a home with no power, I thought about the season we are having during this pandemic. This Delta variant is relentless and the politics that others are involved in is having a major impact on the lives and education of our scholars. We have to move them and grow them but we are up against such hard times. As we continue to weather this storm as I did this weekend, remember that we have the power to make a difference. We have the power to practice good hygiene practices. We have the power to wear a mask correctly and consistently, we have the power to socially distance ourselves and we have the opportunity to get vaccinated (second plug).
This week, Ivy Preparatory Academy (IPA) is introducing a new online COVID-19 Reporting Portal for parents. This online reporting process will allow for a more direct engagement between parents and IPA as we promptly respond and address scholar cases of COVID-19.
This secure system allows parents to notify IPA about their scholar(s). The system guides the reporting parent through a series of questions they must answer. The information is submitted directly to IPA’s COVID-19 Task Team which initiates the COVID-19 case investigation.
Once received, the IPA COVID-19 Investigative team will:
Contact, investigate, and follow-up directly with parents and scholars.
Work in collaboration with Georgia Department of Health to share essential information so IPA can take appropriate actions to respond and contain any COVID-19 risks to the school staff and other scholars.
Provide the parent/guardian (scholar) direction about testing, self-isolation, quarantine, or need for additional medical care.
Parents/Guardians of IPA scholars are asked to submit COVID-19 report to IPA if the scholar:
Has tested positive for COVID-19.
Is waiting for the results of a test for COVID-19.
Has been in direct contact (within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more) with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
If any of the above apply to scholars, the reporting parent/guardian will be asked to complete a report to IPA. If the scholar does not meet the above criteria for submitting a COVID-19 report, but is not feeling well or is ill, parents/guardians will be directed to notify their personal healthcare provider.
We must change our behaviors if we want to keep everyone safe. Continue to increase your power and do all you can to fight COVID! Have a great weekend!
