Detecting & Supporting Learner or Behavioral Needs

About Learning Support

Scholars with learning and/or behavioral needs are provided learning support from educators on our Essential Skills Team.  Our Essential Skills Team consists of the MTSS Coordinator, Special Education Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Speech Therapists, Vision Impaired Teacher, Occupational Therapist, and many more educators who specialize in small group settings or one-to-one setting to achieve individualized, developmentally appropriate goals that are designed for each scholar.

MTSS/RTI

(Response To Intervention) provides a safety net for at-risk scholars, who at some point could not receive additional support until after they were already failing. RTI (Response to Intervention) is a multi-tiered (MTSS) approach to the early detection and support of scholars with learning and/or behavioral needs. The Scholar Support Team (SST) is a problem-solving process in every Georgia school. Its purpose is to find ways around roadblocks to success for any scholar referred to it. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Harris-Harvey, Director of Scholar Services, at phharris

Section 504

Section 504: of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 has been strongly emphasized by the federal government as applicable to the schools' handling of certain scholar difficulties. SST documentation can meet most Section 504 requirements.
